Review
Even though this fine band hails from Italy, their sound are very much English/American. Hell, they even open with a Saga (Canadian progmasters) like track “ Signals In The Water” and I like it!! It is pompous (in a good way!) and brilliant musically, these guys definitely knows their stuff and instruments!! With an opener like this, you find yourself wanting more, as I did and more there is, this fine release brims with great production, excellent tunes, superbly delivered and their vocals (no hint of accent) and indeed vocal arrangements (Just listen to “Sitting On The Edge Of Heaven”) are really world class!! In addition to the excellent musicianship from the band itself, you get brilliant violin, chapstick from guest musicians!! The funky “Conditioning” show them in a playful mood, they even use a “ ah..ha..ha..ha” a la Bee Gees chorus here, wonderful!! “Nothing More In You” another brilliant tune with the beautiful guest vocals of one Angela Merlin, another great track!! “Childish Reaction” again a superb power rock/prog track, with Fabio Serra´s supreme guitars to the fore, this man plays a mean guitar, both chords and lead guitar soli!! OH my….they dare to do a copy of a song from one the finest bands in the world!! “I am The Walrus” one of my fav Beatles prog oriented tunes!! Do they get away with it?! Yes they do!! Because they are so talented and this album screams “SUPERB” and they are true to the original, still giving it an edge that is truly theirs.
WOW what a band, what an album!! It is rare that a new band comes along and totally sweep the carpet under the listener, I am really amazed and pleased! Would you believe, the epic prog track are still to come, namely as the last track on this formidable release!! Here comes the title track: “Back To The Stars” a tour de force of brilliance, superb vocal arrangements, breaks, shifts and time signatures a plenty! This is master class symphonic prog!! It goes straight into my private collection and a strong contender to the best prog album year 2014!!! YOU MUST OWN THIS ALBUM!! I cant even begin to fathom what these fine musicians will bring us next, after this MASTERPIECE?!!
