Dublin outfit Parhelia belongs to the new class of prog, somewhere between Muse, Mew and mid period Porcupine Tree, although entirely instrumental! The music herein are crystal clear, often light, not overly complex but very capable in the hands of this trio. I would have loved some drama, some darker tones, since it is all save and dare I say ...neat, at times so much so with the risk of losing your (the listeners) attention! Clearly the musicians here are very good I just wish they would get more aggressive, turn it up a notch especially on the sinister side to the otherwise melodic tunes! A fine little release, not much new under the prog sun, but a decent offer to the realm of new progbands (as mentioned). Also allow me to question the running time here, 35: 04 minutes really are not much longer than an EP!! Well maybe that's all they had at the moment of recording?! I for one will keep an eye (should that be an ear?) on these guys in the future!!
