Neutrons....yes, that’s the name of this fine UK (mostly Welsh) outfit. With two excellent musicians from the great Welsh prog band Man, namely Phil Ryan: keys / Will Youatt: bass & guitars, plus John Weathers (ex-Gentle Giant) on drums and Stuart Gordon (ex-Incredible String Band) on drums.

They made two great albums of which I will concentrate on the first one (both brilliant albums are out on one, yes that’s right, CD) courtesy of the fine BGO company who specializes in releasing great stuff from times lost! The music herein is great progressive spiced with spacerock and some art rock/pop leanings.

Listen to the staccato-influenced "Dangerous Decicions", this tune bounces in happy form with some excellent moog on top of perfectly laid drums and bass rhythm broken occasionally with some great guitaring! Great stuff!! I would go so far as to say you have not heard anything like it ! "Doom City" has a funky-like key intro (not unlike some of Man´s stuff) that indeed flows on into a fine piece of art rock music with some nice style straight guitar solo (actually it reminds me of Manfred Mann’s Earth Band in their early days, with the ever brilliant Mick Rogers).

Next up is "Dance of the Psychedelic Lounge Lizards" which comes across like a Canterbury style track, that Caravan would be very proud of! Well, there are many more great tunes on this CD to enjoy which, as mentioned, also holds their second album Tales from the Blue Cocoons but that’s another review entirely. I’ll be back with that one!

Intrigued? Well I should hope so, for this is a fine piece of "forgotten" music! You need to go out and find this very well executed piece of music!
