Second release from Polish progband State Urge, this outing follows the path their debut laid out. With some very heavy chords (a la later Porcupine) , good time signatures and some very intriguing tunes, which also at times blend some jazzy sequences into the equation. Gone are the days of bad English, as heard so often from non English and particularly German, Polish, Italian and some scandinavian bands way back! Today everyone (well almost) sings in perfect English.Their special brand of prog could be called new prog, since there are no, well slightly, whatsoever hints of old school symphonic prog!
Fine musicians all around, but I took special notice to the guitars of Martin Cieslik and the wonderful keyboards of Mikal Tarkowski.
I find it a good album and they most certainly deserve your attention!
Yes my dear friends, Polish bands are still on top of the/their game. This particular album proves that State Urge are a band to keep an eye (ear) on, in the future, i for one will certainly do that.
Meanwhile guys give them a whirl, they are quite interesting and though not much new, they deliver what they got with finesse and excellence!
My fav tracks here:
"New Season" - a beautiful acoustic piece.
"More" - the epic track on the album, with a slight Floydish/ Porcupine feel to it!!
So I (ahem) urge you to give these guys a chance!! Go on then, give em a whirl!!
