Hailing from Germany, this fine instrumental progband led by wiz-drummer Hans Jorg Schmitz. Returns with another strong album, filled to the brim with imaginative cinematic sequences and themes, blended with high powered tracks a la Cozy Powell´s solo albums, remember them?! His chosen "guest" musicians holds no less than 11 musicians, from the obvious Guitars, bass, keyboards to Chapman stick, oboe, mellotron and violin/flute! All top notch musicians as clearly heard on every track! The production superb! There is of course the inevitable drum solo, thoug great and short!
But you wont believe the time changes and breaks this album has to offer! Not to mention the variety of musical genre´s delivered here. You get acoustic & electric high powered rock, you get folkrock, you get cinematic (as mentioned) filmic themes, you get jazzy sequences, sometimes even rolled into one tune!
Do I like it? NO ....I LOVE it !!!
Now I know many of you dislike instrumental albums and also some of you are into the instrumental world of Prog! This one could just be the one that that won you of the "dislike" group over!!
If this release doesnt do it dont know what will !!
Oh a little trivia: Apogee´s mastermind: Arne Schafer guest´s on electric guitar! So Ladies and Gentlemen an album very well worth checking out, both in quality and quantity (77:05 minutes).
never a boring minute!! GO!!
Even though the cover art doesnt do anything for me, I quite like the cardboard 3 way cover and the booklet! Great!
