The mighty Dixie Dregs, 3 albums on 2 cd´s re-mastered, what a treat!! Wanna hear masterclass music? In the genre of a fusion between rock/jazz/country/bluegrass played like no one else?! Well here you go. Led by the fantastic guitar virtuoso, composer Steve Morse (yes it is he, later of Kansas & Deep Purple) aided by the amazing bass of Adam West / the supreme drumming of Rod Morgenstein/ the magic of T.Lavitz on keyboards & the electrifying violins of Allen Sloan/ Marc
O´Connor. An instrumental Tour de Force, like you never heard (that is - if these guys are new to you?!) I promise you will be amazed at the sheer talent displayed here.
The sheer talent , their respect for the music chosen, their playfull way which includes humorous hints and allegations, here and there to other music genres. Add to that some (read: many) jaw dropping musical interludes!!
I have always loved Dixie Dregs and I am really amazed at the brilliance of these musicians! I have of course, as an amateur guitarist, the utmost respect and awe for Steve Morse!
Hell he even got me to contemplate giving up the guitar all together. But I turned it around, thinking I wanna be as good as that guy! While I am nowhere near his talent, I still play!
Enough of that, I really enjoyed these 3 albums as I am sure you will, once you purchase them and you must if you were at all intrigued along the way reading this review!
Dixie Dregs, there´s nothing like them!!
Chronological these 3 albums by DD would be # 5/6/7.
