So, 2 years we had to wait for the follow up to their brilliant “ Snow Queen” (read review elsewhere on these pages) as years passed and changed so did their musical direction and the line-up !! The former album had the fine quartet : Geoff Smith / vocals, keyboards, Andy Gibbon / bass, Mike Hagland / guitars, Steve Leman / drums! Sometime in between years they “lost” excellent vocalist/ keyboard player Geoff Smith! Adding female vocalist Linda Barnes, Ron Rogers & Rob Teague- Keyboards & Richard Lawton on Sax, flute, vocals - to the remaining 3 muscians! What emerges are a whole nother musical language, still very interesting, prog music wise! The more I play this album the more I like it! Must admit though, at first I was very disappointed (“Snow Queen” being one of my fav albums that year!) But as said, this album really grows on me for every spin! Funny thing though, if I were to present both said albums, to my friends in a…say prog music quiz! I feel certain they would guess: two different bands! Enough of my ramblings, I like this album, first and foremost for the imaginative musical landscapes, well almost cinematic sequences herein, but also for the musicianship this fine band delivers! I love the variations, one moment quite popish tunes, the other very intriguing complex compositions, delivered perfectly!
TIMES UP!! So they say, but not for these guys, I cant wait to hear their next outing! Meanwhile….this album will do fine!! Go on..give it a whirl!!
