This album, this band is wonderfully weird, odd, fantastic, quirky & absolutely brilliant!! What you get here are something utterly progressive, in the truest sense of the word! Imagine superb vocal harmonies, fuzz guitar, spoken word, weird time signatures, strange interludes, eccentric ideas and perfect tunes! Despite the German sounding name (and the fact that it is the name of a purebred dog) these guys are from the UK! They sometimes remind me of XTC (at their lyrical best) but also there are reminiscent of that superb and very criminally underrated Dutch proggers Super Sister!! The overall feeling is that of the so called Canterbury genre, mind not so complex as say Hatfield & the North, Matching Mole more like Caravan ( Schnauser - not sounding like them though) with the popish approach and the original composition and song ideas! For some, it might take some getting used to, for others this album will make them go WOW. I am clearly of the latter persuasion and this wonderful outing grows and grows at every spin! Dare I say that Esoteric Antenna have done it again, stepping forth and releasing yet another gem this year! Good for them and great for us real music and prog lovers.
If you liked the aforementioned sentences and comparisons, I highly recommend you to go out and buy this gem!! Go on, treat yourself!!
The only thing I can comment negatively on, is the cover art! IMHO it really doesn´t do the music herein justice!! I find it bleak, whereas the music is colorful and shining.
