This being (only) the second Happy the man record I have had the pleasure to encounter... all I can say is, if the other 5 titles are as GREAT as this...Waaauuuhh!!!! First of all, this is a live recording of this fabulous Us-band. Recorded at the "Cellar door" and at "Louie´s rock city" sometime in 1978. And I must say the sound is great, as is the music. There are gentle sound- scapes with terrific outbursts on both guitar(Stan Whitaker) & Keyboards (The wonderful Kit Watkins) there are folklike-themes ("Open book").. dreamy and soundtrack like songs with interludes and jaw dropping breaks a plenty!! I cant really pinpoint the style (and why should i?) as they clearly are in a league of their own....it is a fantastic record...oh a by the way all musicians involved are great, As Kennell, Roussel & Wyatt keep up with the afore mentioned front figures...just listen to the jazzy "Morning sun". No...singing(which is almost usual with these guys) on this one!! Any serious progfan should own this!!
All bands/artists and all moozik aficionados, if you have not joined Planet Of Prog on their fb page yet you might want to join them here too. They are unbiased, very honest sharing the music from the greats to the indie starting artists and what I love the most about them, there is no negativity (you'll not find any pompous selfrightous know it all full of know better and how sermons on their reviews) no matter who you are, all their reviews the bands are treated with utmost dignity even if the review is not most favorable, that review will be honest, not pompous and most in awe respectful of the artist's efforts. I love them, love this site. Join if you want to,I like them a lot!
